Bringing our dogs with us around the island can make any day that much better! Discovering new favorite beaches, hiking through lush rainforests, grabbing a delicious bite to eat, or just hanging at a local dog park make for a great day. There are lots of dog-friendly options on the island to choose from for a fun-filled weekend.

We've gathered a list of our favorite dog-friendly places to venture, all over the island. So pack up the car, bring some treats, and get ready to make life-long memories.

Remember to research rules and guidelines before arriving and clean up after your pup to ensure they’re always welcome. Dogs should be leashed unless otherwise noted, all dogs should be vaccinated and healthy, make sure you have water and shade available, and if you notice your dog is being aggressive take them home as soon as possible.

Poli Poli Trail

Welcome to a beautiful and peaceful escape for you and your companion on the hillsides of Haleakala. The Poli Poli trail begins at the recreation area and goes on to pass through the Haleakala Ridge trail. Along the way, you’ll see pine trees, cypress, and cedars, all leading to a breathtaking grassy field that you both can relax in and marvel at the views. All you have to do is ensure your pup is leashed and clean up whatever you bring in!

Ho’okipa Beach Park

The best beach for laying on the sand with your best friend and maybe spotting a turtle or two! Dogs have to be leashed on this beach but the little tide pools make it easy to swim alongside your pooch in a safe and fun way.

Grandma’s Maui Coffee House

After a trip to see the sunrise or exploring upcountry Maui, head on over to Grandma’s Coffee House for a delicious bite to eat! Try their delicious french toast, Belgian waffle, or eggs benedict! Pick a table in the backyard that overlooks the expansive sloping hills of Haleakala.

Expeditions Lanai Ferry

If you’re wanting to take your weekend adventure off-island to explore more of Maui County, head on over to Lanai on the Expeditions Ferry! Dogs are allowed on the ferry, but they must be leashed for the ride over and there is an extra charge. Experience the undiscovered corners of Lanai on 4x4 trekker tours, peaceful beaches, and leisure strolls along the cliff sides.

Keopuolani Dog Park

One of our favorite dog parks is Keopuolani Dog Park. With two fenced-in areas for off-leash fun and two different areas for large and small dogs, it’s a no-brainer trip for dog owners. There are also fountains for both you and your furry friend as well as free waste bags. The rest of the park has lengthy trails and a bigger park area if you want to walk with your Fido on a leash.

Here is a list of more places you and your furry friend can adventure on Maui!
