Island Sotheby's International Realty (ISIR) agents participated in not one but two Golf events this past month. Each event raised money for their respective charities bringing fun and fundraising together.

The 30th Annual Kapalua Clambake Pro-Am was held on June 24-26th on both the Bay and Plantation Courses. Professionals and amateurs from around the country converged at Kapalua for a fun three days of festivities and competitions. When the event was started in 1987, in part by ISIR's own Rob Shelton, the 3-year goal was to be recognized as an Aloha Section PGA event, and to be big enough to support a local charity. That goal was achieved within 2-years and now, 30 years later The Kapalua Clambake Pro-Am has donated over $400,000 (clams!) to their beneficiaries, Maui Special Olympics and Lahainaluna High School's golf programs. Highlights from this year's event included a gala dinner with live entertainment, a horse race shootout for the top teams and an awards ceremony for the entire field.

As the only public high school in West Maui, the entire community benefits from its people and resources. Throughout the school's history, we have witnessed the capital of Hawaii moving from Lahaina to Honolulu, the closing of plantations, the growth of tourism and numerous other changes in our community. Lahainaluna still stands as a beacon above Lahaina, and our community and alumni continue to shore the deepest respect for the school's culture and traditions. Thank you for your support of the Lahainaluna High School golf Programs.

The Kapalua Clambake Pro-Am Invitational continues to be a blessing to our program and we appreciate the generosity! Maui Special Olympics has 228 Maui athletes, 45 Molokai and 7 Lanai athletes enrolled in our program which continues to grow. Over the years, proceeds from the Clambake have helped us develop new programs, expand existing ones, and has even allowed us to compete at the State and World Games. This event is our most fun throughout the year and we really appreciate the support of our sponsors who give back to the community in such a meaningful way.

Earlier in the month, on the South side of the island, ISIR agents also played in the 2016 REALTORS® Presidential Scholarship Golf Event at the Wailea Golf Club held June 4th. The REALTORS® Association of Maui, Inc. was the proud sponsor of this annual event. The purpose of the REALTORS® Presidential Scholarship is to award Maui County graduating high school seniors and past recipients scholarships to obtain a college degree in the field of their choice. Since 1989, the REALTORS® Association of Maui Presidential Scholarship has awarded over $519,000 to students of Maui County.
