Island Sotheby’s International Realty is excited to announce that Heber Portillo Cruz R(S) is one of the latest real estate professionals who chose to join our growing ‘ohana.
Cruz grew up in Los Angeles and moved to Hawai’i with his family as a teenager. Before earning his real estate license, Cruz spent nearly two decades in the home building industry, honing his expertise as an electrical contractor. His professional life took him all across the Aloha State, from the hustle and bustle of O’ahu to the lush valleys of Kaua’i. Eventually, he chose Maui as the island for his family to call home.
Cruz strives to build close connections with his clients, leading them through each step of the home buying or selling process with a friendly smile on his face. As a real estate agent, his No. 1 goal is to serve his community.
Whether he’s helping a first-time buyer find their family’s dream home or helping a seller work toward their next investment property, Cruz aims to meet his clients’ every need, with the support of the Sotheby’s International Realty global network. We sat down with Cruz to learn why he chose to join our team.
What inspired you to work in Maui real estate?
HPC: I am an active member of The Light of the World church community in Kihei and wanted to get into real estate to serve my family and church community. The most fulfilling feeling for me is to be able to help first-time homebuyers find their homes.
Why did you join the Island Sotheby's International Realty team?
HPC: I joined Island Sotheby’s International Realty because I felt very supported by everyone. It truly felt like friendship; they’re very, very welcoming people. I felt at home.
What is your favorite part about being a real estate professional?
HPC: My favorite part about working in real estate is getting to know new people. Although I’ll be spending most of my time in Island Sotheby’s International Realty’s Kihei office, my networks in residential construction and real estate span all across the island. I’ll go wherever my business takes me, whether it’s the West Maui, Upcountry or South Maui.
What should clients know about you?
HPC: My clients should know that I am very friendly, helpful and trustworthy. And because of my background in construction and as an electrical contractor, I can better guide my clients through negotiations and the home inspection process.
When I’m not at work, I’m usually spending time with my daughters and wife; we like to travel and often go to Lana’i. Another hobby of mine is flying over Hana in a Cessna 172.
