Deborah knows what it means to live the Maui lifestyle. From being a loyal and trusted realtor and friend to her clients to lounging on the beaches in Kihei on the weekends, she knows what it means to live with aloha.

"I love so many things about being a Realtor. I love assisting buyers in finding their most valuable assets. Their home is where they will make their memories, where their kids will grow up or vacation. Where they will meet new neighbors or have new adventures."

She holds herself to the highest standards because she knows her clients will be met with nothing but that. Read more about Deborah below and contact her to help you on your real estate journey today!

What led you to where you are today?

I love real estate. I love the possibilities when a property is in need, and I love the pleasure of being surrounded by a beautiful spacious (or cozy and tight) environment. Big or small, I always see potential. The first home I bought was built in 1926 in inner-city Dallas, Texas. I had so much fun renovating that house, and the renovation bug never left me. I didn't have a budget to speak of as a young woman, so I learned to tile, I learned to plumb, and I learned that houses are just shells with four walls; it's what you choose to do inside those four walls that creates your idea of a soul-satisfying experience. Sometimes the answer is nothing. Sometimes, particularly on Maui, doing nothing other than basking in the view is all needed to sate the soul.

What's your favorite part about living in Maui and why?

The green and blue. Every day, I am surrounded by green and blue. The color wheel of Maui is so relaxing. Whether I am on my daily beach walk with my dog or hiking with friends in Makawao Forest, the tones of Maui make me feel good. I think its part of the human experience - we are drawn toward healthy environments. Maui's color palette exudes health and a healthy lifestyle.

What's your favorite part about being a realtor?

I love so many things about being a Realtor. I love assisting buyers in finding their most valuable assets. Their home is where they will make their memories, where their kids will grow up or vacation. Where they will meet new neighbors or have new adventures. I love assisting sellers in preparing a home that they are leaving. Sometimes there is deep grief in selling a home where they have made so many memories, and I am honored to be a part of and to hold space for that grief to be felt. I then love to prepare a home for selling by staging it in ways that appeal to an outside audience. I also have to say that I enjoy selling raw land on the north shore. Random cows crowding the Jeep, ringing bells to keep the feral pigs back...being a Realtor on Maui is entertainment in and of itself.

Why did you choose Island Sotheby’s International Realty?

I chose Island Sotheby’s Iinternaitonal Realty due to its reputation. Island Sotheby’s Iinternaitonal Realty has a reputation for exhibiting integrity, which comes from the top down. I wanted to work for a brokerage with specific demands for its owners, partners, and agents. We live in confusing times with photoshop and endless news cycles. We could all use some sure footing these days, and I feel like I found it at Island Sotheby’s Iinternaitonal Realty.

Where is one place on the island we can find you on the weekend or in your spare time?

You can always find me walking my dog, Butters, on Sugar Beach. It's 5 miles of sand, and he is a pit-mix that is never tired of beach life. When I am not there, I like to hike Maui. The Makawao Forest loop is a 6.3-mile hike, and it takes us 3 hours, so it's a great time to catch up with friends. I spend a lot of time in Kula with my dairy goat friends talking "goat," or you can find me at another friend's protea farm in Kula. Maui's Upcountry has so much to offer in sheer natural beauty.

What local spot is a "must-visit," and why?

Nalu's in Kihei if we are talking food. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Feral chickens are pattering around the floor. Open-air/picnic-style eating with GREAT food. If we are talking about places to be, I think our guests largely miss out on the unique opportunity to enjoy the MACC. Maui Arts and Cultural Center hosts so many great events and touring acts. The outdoor theatre opens up for the larger touring shows, and being under the stars while Sheryl Crow or Bonnie Raitt fills the night sky with a song is memorable, to say the least. I also enjoy outdoor movies or comedy presentations. It's a beautiful venue for all to enjoy.

What is your favorite thing about your office's city?

Kihei! I love the "We are nothing but a casual beach town-don't you dare put on shoes" vibe. I spent the past 17 years on Maui being Upcountry and recently relocated to Kihei. I have learned to love being barefoot because I can walk right out of my door with my dog on the leash, and we are barefoot all day long. That is Kihei. Nothing but sandy toes.

What do you think clients should know about you/what sets you apart from the crowd?

I am absolutely earnest in my intention to provide service, hospitality, and integrity. I believe that winning means that all sides walk away happy. We are all in this together. I want my clients to feel confident that I have given them the best resources and research and have complete market transparency in what they buy or sell. I offer boutique, very hands-on, attention-to-detail service because my reputation as a realtor is my calling card. It is my intention and hope that my reputation will always precede me. With that said, I will make every stride to ensure my clients are content. My past clients should always be my future promoters. If they are not, I need to fix whatever failed on my end.
