Island Sotheby's International Realty welcomes our newest realtor, Scott Trommald! Scott knows what it means to fully appreciate something from the inside out. Having years of experience being a property manager for homes throughout the Kipahulu area, he grew to know and love the location and history of the land. So naturally, becoming a real estate agent felt like the best next step to continue on his journey of creating homes for people on Maui.

"The remote setting, the rich culture and history, the land and its peoples offer a truly unique type of luxury to its residents. So representing the community as a real estate agent seemed a natural step for me."

Not only has Scott had a hand in managing and selling properties, but he has also been spending the last five years creating his own piece of paradise. Being on almost every side of the real estate world, Scott has been able to use all these experiences to help him embrace the island's unrivaled natural beauty even more. He can speak firsthand on how the historical significance, culture, heritage, and the people in the community provide every one of his clients with a unique form of luxury.

What led you to where you are today?

Back in the '80s, I competed in and completed the Ironman World Championship Triathlon. I decided then to move to Hawaii. Although it was many years until I did relocate, I always held onto that goal. As I explain later in this blog, my real estate agent path started by living and working in Kipahulu for 12 plus years. As I learned about the people, land, and history of greater Kipahulu/Kalepa/Kaupo, I fell in love with it. When I started searching for a parcel of land to purchase for myself and my wife, I utilized that knowledge to research the properties there. These efforts allowed me to further appreciate the unparalleled level of beauty of the area. The remote setting, the rich culture and history, the land, and its peoples offer its residents a truly unique type of luxury. Representing the community as a real estate agent seemed a natural step for me.

What's your favorite part about living in Maui?

We moved to Maui to improve the quality of our lives. Although there are many beautiful places on the mainland, on Maui, you feel that you're in that beauty at all times. There is always a mountain or ocean vista within view. We also personally embrace the opportunity to grow our own food and enjoy the freshest air and water in the world.

What's one thing you've always wanted to do on Maui but haven't yet?

I would like to hike the Kaupo Gap, out-and-back with an overnight at the Paliku campground.

What inspired you to work in Maui real estate?

My wife and I are property managers for multiple properties in the community of Kipahulu. It has allowed me to get to know many property owners. It started to become clear that it was a time of transition in our community. I saw an opportunity to be of service to the owners and the residents in general. I got to know Dan Omer R(S), an agent at ISIR, over the years and was impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. As I considered a future in real estate, Dan was an advisor and a great introduction to ISIR. It didn't take much research to realize that ISIR was Maui's top real estate firm.

Where is one place on the island we can find you on the weekend or in your spare time?

We are nearing the end of a five-year development of our own property in Kipahulu. Normally we give our time and energy to our own project on the weekends. We do that as a necessity and a desire.

What should clients know about you?

My goal is to represent myself and ISIR with hard-working professionalism. Living in the community I want to serve is an advantage.
