Island Sotheby’s International Realty is proud to announce that Jane Ford R(B) has become one of the latest agents to join the prestigious firm’s growing team of real estate professionals.

Jane moved to Maui from Grand Cayman last year, where she was a broker with the Sotheby’s brand while representing clients seeking luxury vacation properties and second homes. She has more than 25 years of experience in real estate both abroad and in the United States, including previously owning her own brokerage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Jane provides her clients with the breadth and depth of knowledge necessary to navigate the intricacies of real estate transactions.

Whether she’s representing a first-time home buyer or an investor searching for their next property, Jane can meet all of your real estate needs. We sat down to talk with her about why she chose to join the Island Sotheby's International Realty team:

What's your favorite part about living on Maui?

JF: The island has it all: the hiking, the surfing, the water, all the different beaches we have. The diversity of the landscape here is incredible. Within a 20 minute drive, you can be in an entirely different climate. You can hike through lush mountains or drive to the beach and surf. After living in Grand Cayman, the vast differences in the landscape is what drew me to Maui.

Why did you join the Island Sotheby's International Realty team?

JF: I worked with the brand in Cayman, and I just think Sotheby's is by far the top global luxury brand in the world. The brand has so much history and is recognized at every corner of the planet. But even though it’s known for luxury, all of their clients are treated the same, whether they’re buying a $100,000-property or $10 million-property.

What inspired you to work in real estate?

JF: It was kind of an accident, actually. I was on holiday on the Outer Banks in North Carolina and went into an open house. I started talking to the developer and the next thing I know, I’m working for the oceanfront developer. That was roughly 25 years ago. And since then, I started my own brokerage and worked with luxury clients in both North Carolina and Cayman.

What is your favorite part about being a real estate professional?

JF: I love what I do; I love meeting interesting people. But my favorite part, by far, is working with individuals where you know you’re helping make their dreams come true.

What else should clients know about you?

JF: I’ve traveled extensively all across the globe and speak Hungarian fluently. Outside of real estate, I’m an avid equestrian and Maui has a variety of equestrian related activities, dressage, hunter jumpers, trail riding, polo and rodeos. I sometimes work as an FEI show jumping judge and travel to international equestrian competitions across the globe. But here on Maui, I also love to hike, paddleboard and surf. My home is in Launiupoko, which I share with my two dogs, Teddy and Jack.
