Island Sotheby’s International Realty is proud to announce that Napua Banks R(S) has become the latest agent to join the prestigious firm’s growing team of real estate professionals.

Napua was born on Maui and spent her early childhood on her family’s ancestral land in Waiehu and South Kihei before moving to Kaua’i, O’ahu, Thailand and then Los Angeles. She moved back to Maui more than 30 years ago and has since become an active member of her island community.

As a proud part of the Island Sotheby’s International Realty ‘ohana, Napua prides herself on navigating complicated transactions and finding solutions for her clients — always with a smile on her face. Whether she’s listing an investment property or helping a family find a home that works for their budget, Napua always provides excellent service, attention to detail and effective communication that earns buyers and sellers’ trust, referrals and repeat business.

We sat down to talk with her about why she chose to join the Island Sotheby's International Realty team:

What inspired you to work in real estate?

NB: Even before I became a Realtor when I was working as an aesthetician, I always liked looking for properties and going into homes. I loved real estate and knew that if I ever decided to pursue a new career, that’s what I wanted to do.

Of course I love getting listings, but I really love helping buyers — my favorite part is the hunt for the property. For example, recently I spent almost a year helping a client find the perfect oceanfront home in Hana. That meant every month, I’d make the three-hour drive from my home in Maui Meadows, but eventually we found the perfect place.

Why did you join the Island Sotheby's International Realty team?

NB: Why pass up a good thing? My friend had recently joined the company, and I had felt that something was missing at the old firm. And I absolutely love the graphic artistry of their ads — just how beautiful they are and their layouts. I really love that they have a culture of investing in aesthetics.

What’s your favorite part about working in real estate?

NB: Clients will learn that I’m almost always smiling, yet I'm realistic and I like to figure things out. For example, if a family can’t afford a property, I’ll look for one with a rental unit that can help them make ends meet. Even if we run into challenges, I know there’s always a way to overcome them. I’m very solutions-oriented. And even though I live in South Maui, I'll travel all over the island to help my clients.

What else should clients know about you?

NB: My mom and my grandparents were all born on Maui —  we’ve called the island home for so long that the deed to our family land in Waiehu was actually written in Hawaiian, back from the days when King Kamehameha ruled.

When I’m not working, you can find me at my home in Maui Meadows with my Yorkshire Terrier, Mahina, and playing in charity golf tournaments with my husband. We also travel somewhere every month, whether it’s taking my son back to college in Oregon, playing golf in Reno or visiting another island.
