Born and raised in the southern sticks of Maine in a town of just 3,000 residents, Erik McLellan is no stranger to the comforts and joys of small-town life. However, when the dust of childhood finally settled, Erik packed his bags, got in his Jeep, and left for a little more activity and excitement in Boston, Massachusetts.
Erik attended Babson College, voted the #1 school for Entrepreneurship for over two decades, and graduated with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Information Systems. Following graduation, Erik put those professional skills to use while working at multiple computer consulting companies. But after 8 years of filling up on Mike’s Pastries, trips to Fenway Park, and learning how to drive and argue like a Bostonian, Erik was ready for his next adventure.
Timing can sometimes be a fortunate thing. Out of the blue, an old friend who had started a new and exciting business on Maui got in touch with Erik about helping to manage and grow the operation.
So, in 2005, Erik bought his first pair of slippers and some sunscreen, and took a one-way redeye to OGG, Maui.
In between basking in the Maui sun and hiking through the Haleakala clouds, Erik has been the General Manager of a Skyline Hawaii. He helped grow the company from 7 employees to 120 and expanded to multiple locations on different islands. His favorite part of the company is its dedication to giving back to the community, culture, and numerous conservation efforts.
Having a lifelong passion for those values is what eventually brought him to Island Sotheby’s International Realty. ISIR’s dedicated reputation, people, and inspiring commitment to giving back to the community helped Erik feel right at home and like he was where he was meant to be.
When it comes to real estate, Erik has the unique experience of knowing what it is like to pack up and move to Maui with two cardboard boxes of personal belongings and a one-way ticket and now truly feel like part of the community. He lives with his beautiful wife, Jessica, and two amazing kids, Dillon and Charlie, in Kula. They have a third talented child, Trenton, who is currently studying music in LA.
When he is not negotiating with his kids, you can find Erik running along the sandy shores, playing in the waves, listening to podcasts, and talking about podcasts. Our tip on how to get Erik talking? Just mention your favorite podcast, and he’s ready to waste the better part of an afternoon. Erik is also a part-time, below-amateur gardener and kiter.
