Rob Shelton has immersed himself in the West Maui community since 1978. After earning a business degree from the University of Washington, Rob joined the management team of the Kapalua Resort and has garnered extensive experience in resort operations. Rob was on the opening team of the Kapalua Bay Hotel and held a variety of positions. In 1995 Rob joined Kapalua Land Company, held positions in Golf Operations, served as Club Manager, and finally General Manager of the Kapalua Club and Villas.
Rob received his real estate license in 2004 and currently serves as Vice President and Broker in Charge of Island Sotheby’s International Realty’s West Maui office. He is an award-winning agent who was named to the Top 100 Realtor Hall of Fame by Hawaii Business Magazine in 2015, and as a Realtor in the top three percent on Maui.
Rob also is a positive part of the local community, serving as the Lahainaluna High School Foundation President from 2000-2012 and continues to sit on the Board. The Foundation’s mission is to support the Lahainaluna school community by providing opportunities and resources, and to assist in preserving and perpetuating Lahainaluna’s unique history, culture, and traditions. The Foundation has raised millions of dollars for Lahainaluna and the West Maui community during his tenure.
Rob is a giver, too. He and his family have created the Shelton ‘Ohana renewable scholarship for a graduating Lahainaluna senior, as well as The Shelton ‘Ohana Endowed Fund for Undergraduate Students at the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. Rob co-founded the Kapalua Clambake Pro-Am Invitational in 1987 and continues to serve on the organizing committee. The Clambake is an Aloha Section PGA sanctioned event benefitting Maui Special Olympics and the Lahainaluna High School golf program. Rob’s presence in golf can also be heard as he announces Tour players as they make their way to the 18th green at the PGA Sentry Tournament of Champions held each January.
In 2011, he was a finalist for the Michael H. Lyons II Palaka Award for outstanding long-term volunteer service to non-profit organizations and was recognized by the County of Maui for his outstanding service to the community.
