Rob Shelton has immersed himself in the West Maui community since 1978. After earning a business degree from the University of Washington, Rob joined the management team of the Kapalua Resort and garnered extensive experience in resort operations. Rob was on the opening team of the Kapalua Bay Hotel and held a variety of positions prior to service with Kapalua Land Company in Golf Operations, Club Management, and ultimately as General Manager of the Kapalua Club and Villas.

Rob obtained his real estate license in 2004 and currently serves as Vice President and West Maui Regional Director of Island Sotheby’s International Realty’s West Maui office. He is an award-winning broker who reached Hall of Fame status in 2015 as a repeating Top 100 Realtor recognized by Hawaii Business Magazine, and in 2019 and 2022 as a realtor in the top three percent on Maui. Rob’s service to the Realtors Association of Maui includes Director at Large, Public Relations Committee, Presidential Scholarship Committee, Nominating Committee and RAM Community Foundation Committee.

Rob has been a positive part of the local community, serving as the Lahainaluna High School Foundation President from 2000-2012. The Foundation’s mission is to support this historic school, founded in 1831, by providing opportunities and resources, and to assist in preserving and perpetuating Lahainaluna’s unique history, culture, and traditions. The Foundation has raised millions of dollars for Lahainaluna and the West Maui community during Rob’s leadership and involvement. In 2024 he was bestowed the title of Director Emeritus. In 2011, he was a finalist for the Michael H. Lyons II Palaka Award for outstanding long-term volunteer service to non-profit organizations and was recognized by the County of Maui for his outstanding service to the community. He is also past PTSA president for King Kamehameha III school, AYSO soccer coach, and Assistant Golf Coach for Lahainaluna High School.

Rob is a giver, too. Rob co-founded the Kapalua Clambake Pro-Am Invitational in 1987. The Clambake was an Aloha Section PGA sanctioned event benefitting Maui Special Olympics and the Junior golf program for over 34 years. Rob and his family established the Shelton ‘Ohana scholarship for graduating Lahainaluna seniors, as well as The Shelton ‘Ohana Endowed Fund for Undergraduate Students at the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, which helps to offset costs for UW students studying abroad.
