Rob Shelton has been an influential member of the West Maui community since 1978. After earning his business degree from the University of Washington, he joined the management team at Kapalua Resort, where he gained valuable experience in resort, golf, and club operations. Rob was on the opening team for the Kapalua Bay Hotel and served in various roles before moving to Kapalua Land Company. There, he worked in golf operations, club management, and ultimately became General Manager of the Kapalua Club and Villas.
Rob obtained his real estate license in 2004 and assisted with the opening of the West Maui office in 2012. After many years as Broker in Charge and West Maui Regional Director, he now holds the title of Vice President Emeritus. He is an award-winning Broker, having achieved Hall of Fame status in 2015 for repeatedly being recognized as a Top 100 Realtor by Hawaii Business Magazine. In 2019 and 2022, he ranked among the top three percent of realtors on Maui. His service to the Realtors Association of Maui includes roles such as Director at Large from 2021 to 2023, and involvement in the Public Relations Committee, Presidential Scholarship Committee, Nominating Committee, and RAM Community Foundation.
Rob is a Director Emeritus of the Lahainaluna High School Foundation and served as its President from 2000 to 2012. The Foundation is dedicated to supporting Lahainaluna High School, established in 1831, by providing opportunities and resources, and helping to preserve the school’s unique history, culture, and traditions. Under Rob's leadership, the Foundation raised millions of dollars for both Lahainaluna and the West Maui educational community.
In recognition of his long-term volunteer service, Rob was a finalist for the Michael H. Lyons II Palaka Award in 2011 and was honored by the County of Maui for his outstanding community service. He has also served as PTSA president for King Kamehameha III School, coached AYSO soccer, and worked as Assistant Golf Coach at Lahainaluna High School. For many years, Rob had the privilege of announcing PGA Tour players as they reached the 18th green at the Mercedes Benz Championships and The Sentry.
Rob and his family are committed to giving back. In 1987, Rob co-founded the Kapalua Clambake Pro-Am Invitational, an Aloha Section PGA sanctioned event that benefited Maui Special Olympics and Junior golf for over 34 years. The Shelton family also established the Shelton ‘Ohana scholarship for Lahainaluna seniors and The Shelton ‘Ohana Endowed Fund for Undergraduate Students at the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, supporting study abroad opportunities for UW students.
Rob is an avid sports fan, especially of Seattle teams, and has maintained a lifelong passion for golf and is currently a member of the King Kamehameha Golf Club. Rob’s wife, Louisa, is a Lahaina native, and together they continue to reside in Alaeloa, Napili. They are parents to two children: Jeffrey, who lives in Rancho Palos Verdes with his wife Elena and son Levi; and Kelvie, who resides in Las Vegas with her three children, Damien, Alana, and Andrea.
