In fact, Sotheby’s International Realty was the first real estate company to start using the technology — known as Matterport — that allows potential buyers to tour homes from thousands of miles away.

A luxury beachfront Makena estate sold for $15.5 million, marking the first significant sale of 2017.

The four-bedroom, seven-bath home in the resort area of South Maui sold for $15.5 million. Island Sotheby’s International Realty agent Courtney Brown represented the buyers, who are ecstatic to live in such an exceptional home.

A luxury Wailea condominium has sold for $2.8 million in one of Maui's finest resort communities.

The 2,600-square-foot unit is located in Ho’olei, one of the newest resort complexes in Wailea. The spacious three-bedroom unit is only steps away from white sand beaches, and offers its new owners only the finest furnishings and amenities. Island Sotheby's International Realty's Rob Shelton R(B) and Ryan MacLaughlin R(B) represented the sellers. 

Shelton said the sellers, who are his long-time clients, owned the condominium for several years and maintained its furnishings meticulously. 

“The unit was just impeccable,” said Shelton. “And the quality of the complex is just terrific.”

Rock star Pat Benatar and her guitarist husband Neil “Spyder“ Giraldo’s Hana estate has sold for $3.1 million.

The famed couple’s Hana home was grabbed up instantly; the property closed approximately 100 days after it first went on the market, said Island Sotheby’s International Realty agents Dan Omer, who represented the seller along with Island Sotheby’s agent Megan Bouhey.

“It’s an incredibly well-maintained property,” said Omer. “It was quite obvious that they paid a lot of attention to the home.”

The oceanfront home is nestled atop a private cove that's minutes from the sleepy town of Hana, where Benatar and her husband lived with their two daughters for several years until about 2009. The home was offered fully furnished, with 3,295 sq.

With Maui’s residential median sales price at its highest point in more than a decade, real estate experts are hopeful 2017 will be a strong year for the island’s housing market.

Maui’s median sales price for a residential properties soared to $700,000 in December 2016 — the highest since September 2006. Meanwhile, the median price for condominiums and land rose to $414,500 and $435,000, respectively.

Real estate agents and investment experts alike are hopeful that the market’s upswing will continue through 2017. Alex Cortez, an agent with the Wailea office, said in particular, he expects to see a growing market for high-end, luxury homes.

“2017 will be a very busy year for uber high-end homes,” said Cortez. “Those markets will see substantial
