Summer is typically the time to hit the refresh button and take time for ourselves during the year's warmest weather and sunniest days.

Once you find the quiet spots and serene hideaways tucked into the corners of the island, you won't find anything better. Your personal oasis can be under the falls of Nailiilihaele or in the tide pools of Ho'okipa.

We've rounded up our personal favorites of Maui spots that ooze our serenity and calmness.

Alii Kula Lavender Farm

The Alii Kula Lavender farm is an enormous flora farm with about 55,000 lavender plants perched on the slopes of Haleakala. Hideaway among the nooks and crannies they have tucked away throughout the property, including a secluded gazebo that looks out onto the West Maui mountains and ocean below.

Haleakala Sunrise

Sunrise at Haleakala is like nothing else in this world. Meaning "House of the Sun," Haleakala in the early morning hours is nothing but a beautiful and majestic view of the Maui skyline. (Be sure to make a reservation before beginning your ascent).

Hookipa Lookout

Take a front seat to some of the most giant waves and best surfers on the island. Never will you feel smaller and more disconnected than witnessing the wildness and thrill of Maui's biggest and most breathtaking wave breaks.

A Poli Poli Afternoon

A lovely and soothing escape for you is on the hillsides of Haleakala. The Poli Poli trail begins at the recreation area and passes through the Haleakala Ridge trail. Along the way, you'll get lost in the towering pine trees, cypress, and cedars, leading to a dazzling grassy field where you can relax and marvel at the views.

Pipiwai Trail and Waimoku Falls

If you enjoy a more active escape and respite from everyday life, then the Pipiwai Route and Waimoku Falls are perfect for you. The two trails run along the same path and are a modest 3.4 miles in and out, perfect for inexperienced and seasoned hikers. The hike is through a tall and massive bamboo grove that leads you deep into the lush forest before arriving at the 400-foot waterfall at the finish.

Lipoa Point’s Starry Show

Out on the West Side of Maui, Lipoa Point offers fantastic views of the sunset off Moloka'i and, a couple of hours later, an intimate show of the stars. Right past the expansive line of hotels and resorts in Kapalua, Lipoa Point is entirely surrounded by Honolua wilderness and sits above the volcanic shoreline. A perfect evening if you ask us.

Escape to Hamoa Beach

Lay out under the sun on one of Hana's most enchanting beaches. Hamoa beach is lined with majestic hala trees and is the perfect getaway for a day of pristine swimming, snorkeling, or simply reading a good book on the sand.

Stroll Along the Kaanapali Boardwalk

Possibly the most beautiful morning or sunset walk in the world, this 4.4-mile boardwalk runs along the Kaanapali beach and gazes out onto the horizon. Perfect for those who find peace in a short jog, breaking a sweat, while surrounded by views of the crystal clear Kaanapali waters. As a reward, stop for a delicious drink or snack at any of the shops.
