Island Sotheby's International Realty welcomes our newest realtor, Susan D. Kissler. Built on a love for all things people, relationships with clients, and Maui's endless sunshine, she is the perfect person to join you on your real estate journey.

Susan was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan, surrounded by her mother's daily routine of showing properties and greeting potential clients throughout the beautiful city. However, after spending some time in Colorado, Susan eventually let the pull of the Hawaiian Islands lead her away from the rocky mountains and forest landscape in 1995 and moved to Maui. Among other newfound passions she discovered on the island, Susan rediscovered her love for real estate and decided to get her license and pursue it as a full-time carer in 2001.

Susan brings years of expert advice and guidance, but her clients always praise her exceptional customer service and thoroughness. Her knowledge about real-time market stats is unparalleled, which makes her the best person to have in your corner during the whole process. First-time homebuyers and seasoned investors and buyers are Susan's bread and butter. She will always offer a unique view on everything about Maui's community, having seen the island grow since arriving and raising her son here.

What led you to where you are today?

I grew up in the Midwest with parents that were very active in the real estate world. My weekends often involved driving by my father's job sites and looking at properties my mother was interested in listing. Yet, I find myself still enjoying the ride! It wasn't until 1995, when I moved to Maui, that I rediscovered my passion for all things real estate and, in 2001, became a licensed realtor. It was a very different landscape back then; it was a more personal one-on-one relationship with clients. I thrived on walking out to greet people as they stood looking at listings on our window, and very often, we were able to work together. To this day, some of my closest friends result from these encounters.

What inspired you to work in Maui real estate?

One of the reasons I chose to move my license to ISIR, in addition to the fact that Sotheby's has such a fantastic reputation for professionalism, is the friendship and camaraderie I feel with the agents in the up-country office. I have known and respected them for a very long time. It feels like coming home.

Where is one place on the island we can find you on the weekend or in your spare time?

The beach is where I can be found in my spare time; it has always been refreshing and uplifting. Growing up in Michigan, I was surrounded by lakes and have always enjoyed all the activities they offer. I love boating, and when I moved here, I purchased a boat that provided endless hours of fun, swimming with the whales and dolphins, trips to Lanai, and just cruising around.

What should clients know about you?

I've been a realtor for a long time. My clients have consistently told me that they appreciate my hands-on attention to every aspect of their real estate journey, whether getting their home ready for showings or helping them negotiate the purchase of a home. From start to finish, I am always aware of the market and available to assist and address any concerns.
