Truman Taoka has been a Hawai’i boy his whole life. Being born and raised on the island of Maui, he knows island life better than anyone. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Tourism and Travel Management at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. With his passion for the island and expert knowledge in the field, Taoka brings his aloha to each client that he works with to provide the best for them and their families.

Taoka has been extraordinary when interacting with customers and tourists. Before joining our team, Taoka was a renowned events director with Hyatt Regency Maui Resorts & Spa. While with Hyatt Regency he was recognized with multiple Hy-Achiever awards and acknowledged as Manager of the year. We love the passion Truman puts into his work and know it will be reflected in his work with his clients. We spoke with Truman to get to know him better and welcome him to our ohana!

What's your favorite part about living on Maui?

Being able to raise my family on the beaches and enjoy the island pace of life. The Maui pace of life allows me to have a good life balance. I can go to work and still have plenty of time at the beach to surf with my family. The community is close and it’s really nice to always run into friends when you’re out and about.

What's one thing you've always wanted to do on Maui but haven't yet?

Hike into Haleakala. Growing up on Maui I mostly fished and surfed so I don’t think I went on a hike until a couple of years ago.  Lots of people that I worked with in the hotels did all of the Maui hikes and said how fun it was. So I guess I’d like to hike Haleakala to just say I did it since I lived here for over 30+ years.

What inspired you to work in Maui real estate and why ISIR?

My neighbors knew that I was looking to change careers. They were moving back to the mainland to be with their grandchildren and gave me the opportunity to sell their home. Two months later I got my real estate license and put their home on the market.  Over the past 6 years, I worked for a few different companies and have decided to change to ISIR because I believe the way that they run their business will be a good fit for me. I wanted a smaller office with all good standard processes already set in place.

What should clients know about you?

I will never pressure them into selling or buying and will always have their best interest in mind throughout the transaction.
