Free ‘Ukulele Workshop 

Saturday, October 7 | 11:00 am 

MACC's Morgado Hall (overlooking the Yokouchi Pavilion Courtyard) 

Registration starts at 10:30 am 

The workshop is conducted by ‘ukulele master Roy Sakuma for students of all ages. Lessons are designed for beginning and intermediate players. It is recommended that students be able to hold C, F, G7 chords and they should bring their own ‘ukulele. No pre-registration is necessary. All participants will be eligible to enter a drawing to win a fine new ‘ukulele, and will be invited to participate in a performance during the festival on Sunday, playing a song they learn in the workshop. 

 

16th Annual Maui ‘Ukulele Festival

Sunday, October 8 | 3:00 PM

Yokouchi Pavilion and A&B Amphitheater

The 16th Annual Maui ‘Ukulele Festival is a free, family-friendly event at Yokouchi Pavilion. Join us at 3:00 PM to celebrate Hawaii’s iconic 'ukulele. The festival supports the Maui Food Bank, collecting donations for wildfire victims. Donation bins will be available near the entrance gates, focusing on essential items like diapers and personal hygiene products.

This festival is a musical delight, featuring acclaimed 'ukulele musicians and traditional hula performances. Explore arts and crafts displays and savor island cuisine from local vendors. The MACC's Schaefer International Gallery will be open from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM for art enthusiasts. Food and beverages are available for purchase starting at 2:30 PM. Don't miss this harmonious day in paradise!

 

Gathering of the Voyagers

October 13-15, 2023

Embark on a journey into the rich maritime history of Hawaii at the Gathering of the Voyagers. This event pays tribute to the ancient Polynesian navigators who, guided by the stars, sailed across vast oceans to reach the Hawaiian Islands. Witness traditional double-hulled canoes, experience interactive exhibits on celestial navigation, and engage with master wayfinders who will share their knowledge and insights. The Gathering of the Voyagers is a unique opportunity to connect with Hawaii's seafaring heritage and the enduring spirit of exploration, offering a profound connection to the island's past.

 

Festivals of Aloha

Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Hawaii at the Festivals of Aloha, a series of events and festivities that celebrate the islands' traditions, arts, and heritage. From hula performances to traditional Hawaiian music, and lei-making workshops to delicious island cuisine, these events offer a kaleidoscope of experiences for the whole family. Other events taking place are: 

  • Aloha Friday, October 13, at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Shopping Center from 5pm-8pm. Enjoy an evening of Hawaiian cultural exhibits, hands-on activities, Hawaiian music, and hula!

  • Hāna Parade - Saturday, October 21, at Hana Ballpark. 11am Parade with the Hāna Royal Court, floats, Grand Marshall, Marching Band, Zenshin Daiko (Taiko), followed by a magic show

    • Ho‘olaule‘a - 10am - 3pm ‘ono local eats and Hand made in Hawaii artists and vendors

  • Ke Kani Hone O Wailea - October 27. A concert series at the Shops at Wailea featuring John Cruz. shopsatwailea.com

  • Hula is the Heartbeat - October 28. A hula concert at the Four Seasons Maui.

  • Sounds of the Sea - October 29. A free sunset concert at the Four Seasons Maui.
